Crystal weapons in Dark Souls, including the Crystal Halberd, are known for their exceptional power but come with a significant drawback. These weapons cannot be repaired through conventional means. This unique characteristic sets them apart from other weapons in the game and requires players to approach their use strategically.
Crystal weapons are designed to be disposable, with a durability that’s 90% lower than their standard counterparts. This means they break much faster during combat, forcing players to consider carefully when and how to use them. The Crystal Halberd, while powerful, follows this same rule, making it a high-risk, high-reward weapon choice.
While direct repair is impossible, there is a way to temporarily restore a Crystal Halberd’s durability. By upgrading the weapon at a blacksmith, its durability will reset. However, this method has limitations:
It can only be done until the weapon reaches Crystal 5
Using a Titanite Slab for this purpose is generally not considered worth the cost
Once fully upgraded, no further restoration is possible
Given the inability to repair Crystal weapons, players have a few options:
Use the Crystal Halberd sparingly, saving it for crucial battles
Carry multiple Crystal weapons to switch between as they break
Consider using standard weapons that can be repaired for general gameplay
It’s important to note that some players have sought mods to remove the durability mechanic, but this alters the intended game balance and challenge.
