How to Easily Repair Crashed Ships in No Man’s Sky

In No Man’s Sky, you may come across crashed ships on planet surfaces that you can claim and add to your collection. However, these ships are often heavily damaged and require extensive repairs before they can be flown. While the traditional method involves gathering all the necessary materials to fix each critical component, there’s an easier way to get these ships space-worthy.

Claiming a Crashed Ship

To claim a crashed ship, simply approach it and interact with the terminal. You’ll be given the option to compare the ship’s stats to your current one and then claim it. Be careful not to swap ships at this point, as that will leave you stranded with the damaged ship.

Repairing the Ship

Instead of repairing the ship on the planet, summon one of your functional ships using the quick menu. Select the option to switch to a different ship, and your damaged ship will now be available to repair.

Fly your functional ship to a space station or your freighter. Once there, switch back to the damaged ship. You can now repair the critical components, such as the Launch Thruster and Pulse Engine, without needing to gather any materials.

This method allows you to easily claim and repair crashed ships without the hassle of collecting resources on the planet’s surface. Simply summon a working ship, fly to a space station, and switch back to the damaged ship to complete the repairs.
