How to Enter and Use Startup Repair Mode in Windows 10

If your Windows 10 PC is experiencing startup issues, such as failing to boot or crashing frequently, you may need to use the Startup Repair feature to troubleshoot and fix the problem. Startup Repair is an integrated troubleshooting utility in Windows 10 designed to quickly resolve common startup problems. In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps to enter and use Startup Repair mode in Windows 10.

Entering Startup Repair Mode

There are several ways to access the Windows 10 Advanced Startup Options menu, where you can find the Startup Repair option:

From the Windows sign-in screen: Press and hold the Shift key while selecting Power > Restart. Your PC will restart to the Choose an option screen.
From the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE): If your PC can’t boot into Windows, you can enter WinRE by repeatedly turning your device off and on. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device, then press the power button again to turn it on. Repeat this process until your device fully starts up, then select Advanced options.
From the Windows 10 Settings menu: Open the Settings app, go to Update & Security > Recovery, and under Advanced startup, click Restart now.
Once you reach the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options.

Using Startup Repair

From the Advanced options screen, select Startup Repair.
Windows will then attempt to diagnose and fix any startup issues. The process may take a few minutes.
If Startup Repair is successful, your PC should boot normally. If the issue persists, you may need to try other troubleshooting methods.

It’s important to note that Startup Repair cannot fix all startup problems. If the repair process fails, you can try alternative methods, such as System Restore or a clean reinstallation of Windows 10.

In conclusion, Startup Repair is a valuable tool for troubleshooting startup issues in Windows 10. By following the steps outlined in this article, you can access and use Startup Repair mode to resolve common problems and get your PC back up and running smoothly.
