How to Reattach Insoles: A Step-by-Step Guide

Dealing with peeling insoles can be frustrating, but there are several effective ways to reattach them. In this article, we’ll explore the best methods to keep your shoes comfortable and looking their best.

Using Spray Adhesive

Spray adhesive is a quick and easy solution for reattaching insoles. Simply spray a thin layer on the bottom of the insole and the corresponding area of the shoe. Press the insole firmly into place and hold for a few seconds. Allow the adhesive to fully dry before wearing the shoes.

Applying Craft Glue

White or clear craft glues, such as Elmer’s, can also be used to reattach insoles. Spread a thin, even layer of glue over the entire bottom surface of the insole. Insert the insole into the shoe and press firmly. Wipe away any excess glue with a damp cloth. Let the glue dry completely before wearing the shoes.

Using a Glue Stick

For a quick and mess-free solution, try using a glue stick. Apply a generous amount of glue to the bottom of the insole and the corresponding area of the shoe. Press the insole firmly into place and hold for a few seconds. Allow the glue to fully dry before wearing the shoes.

Seeking Professional Help

If the insole is severely damaged or you’re unsure of the best method to reattach it, consider taking your shoes to a cobbler. Cobblers have access to specialized adhesives and tools that can ensure a secure and long-lasting bond.

Remember, it’s always best to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when reattaching insoles. With the right adhesive and a little patience, you can keep your shoes comfortable and looking their best for longer.
