If you’re a commercial fisherman in Louisiana, renewing your fishing license is a crucial step to continue your operations legally. In 2024, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) offers several convenient options for renewing your commercial fishing license.
One of the most efficient ways to renew your commercial fishing license is through the LDWF’s online portal. Simply visit www.wlf.louisiana.gov/licenses and follow the instructions to complete your renewal process. This option is not only convenient for you as a fisherman but also allows the LDWF to provide quicker service.
If you prefer to renew your license in person, the LDWF offers several locations and dates for you to do so. In April and May 2024, the LDWF will have representatives available at their offices in New Orleans, Bourg, Lake Charles, and Lafayette to assist you with your renewal. These in-person renewal sessions are designed to make the process more accessible and convenient for commercial fishermen across the state.
To ensure you have ample opportunity to renew your commercial fishing license, the LDWF has scheduled the following in-person renewal sessions:
New Orleans Office: April 19 – April 21, 8am – 3:30pm
Bourg Office: April 26 – April 28, 8am – 3:30pm
Lake Charles Office: May 2 & 3, 9am – 3:30pm
Lafayette Office: May 4 & 5, 9am – 3:30pm
Remember to bring your license renewal notice with you to avoid processing delays.
If you’re a first-time applicant or need to apply for a new license, you’ll need to provide specific documentation:
Resident applicants must provide proof of Louisiana residency, such as a driver’s license (held continuously for 12 months), voter’s registration, vehicle registration, and state income tax.
Non-resident applicants must provide proof of residency from their domiciliary state, such as a driver’s license, voter’s registration, vehicle registration, and state income tax.
Applicants applying for a license in a business name must provide documentation showing proof of a valid federal tax ID number assigned to the business name and proof of authorized signature, or an occupational license will be required.
By gathering the necessary documentation and choosing the renewal method that best suits your needs, you can ensure a smooth and efficient renewal process for your Louisiana commercial fishing license in 2024.
