Kentucky Seniors: Discover the Perks of the Senior Sportsman’s License in 2024

As a Kentucky resident aged 65 or older, or if you are totally disabled, you have the opportunity to take advantage of the state’s Senior Sportsman’s License in 2024. This license offers a wide range of benefits and privileges, making it a must-have for outdoor enthusiasts who want to make the most of their golden years.

What is the Kentucky Senior Sportsman’s License?

The Kentucky Senior Sportsman’s License is a comprehensive license that combines hunting and fishing privileges, along with various permits, into a single package. For just $12 in 2024, seniors can enjoy the same licenses and permits as the Resident Sportsman’s License, which includes:

Annual fishing license
Annual hunting license
Statewide deer permit (four deer)
Spring and fall turkey permits
Kentucky migratory bird/waterfowl permit
Trout permit

In addition to these standard privileges, seniors also receive extra deer permits, making the Senior Sportsman’s License an even more attractive option.

Eligibility and Purchasing the License

To be eligible for the Senior Sportsman’s License, you must be a Kentucky resident aged 65 or older, or a Kentucky resident who is totally disabled. If you are disabled, you must obtain an authorization card from the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources before purchasing the discounted license.

The license can be purchased from various local vendors, online at the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources website, or by calling the toll-free number 1-877-KYTAG01 (1-877-598-2401). When purchasing the license, you will need to provide proof of residency, age (driver’s license), or disability.

Benefits of the Senior Sportsman’s License

The Senior Sportsman’s License offers several benefits that make it a great value for Kentucky seniors in 2024:

Cost savings: At just $12, the Senior Sportsman’s License provides a significant discount compared to purchasing individual licenses and permits separately.
Convenience: With a single license, seniors can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities without the need for multiple permits.
Expanded opportunities: The extra deer permits included with the Senior Sportsman’s License allow seniors to hunt more deer than they would with a standard license.

In addition to the Senior Sportsman’s License, Kentucky also offers a Senior Lifetime Sportsman’s License for $180. This voluntary option includes the same privileges as the annual license, but it is valid for the lifetime of the license holder.

Whether you choose the annual Senior Sportsman’s License or the Senior Lifetime Sportsman’s License, you can be sure that you are getting a great value and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors in Kentucky in 2024.
