What is the Minimum Age to Purchase a Fishing License in Wyoming in 2024?

In the state of Wyoming, fishing licenses are required for both resident and nonresident anglers aged 14 and older, with a few exceptions. The licenses and stamps are valid for twelve consecutive months from the date of purchase.

Resident Fishing Licenses in Wyoming

To be considered a resident of Wyoming for the purpose of obtaining a fishing license, an individual must be a United States citizen or legal alien who has been domiciled in Wyoming for at least one full year immediately preceding the application for the license. They must not have claimed residency in any other state, territory, or country during that one-year period.

The fees for resident fishing licenses in Wyoming are as follows:

Resident Annual Fishing License: $27
Resident Daily Fishing License: $6
Resident Youth Annual Fishing License (ages 14-17): $3

Residents under the age of 14 do not need a fishing license, and their creel limit is the same as those requiring licenses.

Nonresident Fishing Licenses in Wyoming

Nonresident anglers under the age of 14 do not need a fishing license if accompanied by an adult possessing a valid Wyoming fishing license. However, the nonresident youth’s creel limit shall be applied to and limited by the fishing license held by the adult person in their company.

Nonresident youth under 14 who possess a valid daily or nonresident youth annual fishing license may capture and possess a full creel limit.

The fees for nonresident fishing licenses in Wyoming are as follows:

Nonresident Annual Fishing License: $102
Nonresident Daily Fishing License: $14
Nonresident Youth Annual Fishing License (ages 14-18): $15

Conservation Stamp Requirement

Each person licensed to hunt or fish in Wyoming, with a few exceptions, must purchase a single conservation stamp that is valid for twelve consecutive months. Proof of purchase of a valid stamp must be in the possession of the sportsman at all times while hunting or fishing.

The cost of the conservation stamp is $12.50 for nonresidents and $10.50 for residents.

In conclusion, the minimum age to purchase a fishing license in Wyoming in 2024 is 14 for both residents and nonresidents, with some exceptions for youth under 14 accompanied by a licensed adult. Fishing licenses and conservation stamps are required for anglers aged 14 and older, with the licenses and stamps valid for twelve consecutive months from the date of purchase.
