Who Can Repair My Gear in Fallout New Vegas?

In the wasteland of Fallout: New Vegas, keeping your gear in top condition is crucial for survival. Whether you’re a seasoned Courier or a newcomer to the Mojave, you’ll inevitably face the challenge of repairing your weapons and armor. Fortunately, there are several NPCs scattered throughout the game world who can lend a hand (or a wrench) to get your equipment back in working order.

Manual Repair

One of the most cost-effective ways to repair your gear is to do it yourself. If you have a high enough Repair skill and the necessary materials, you can cannibalize duplicate weapons or armor pieces to restore their condition. Simply open your Pip-Boy, select the item you want to repair, and choose the appropriate duplicate from your inventory to use as a repair source.

The Jury Rigging perk, available at level 14 with 90 Repair skill, makes this process even easier. With Jury Rigging, you can repair any item with any item of the same category, such as repairing a magnum revolver with any handgun or power armor with any heavy armor.

Weapon Repair Kits

For a more convenient option, you can use Weapon Repair Kits to restore your firearms to full condition. These consumable items can be found in the world or crafted at a Workbench with a Repair skill of 50 or higher. To craft a Weapon Repair Kit, you’ll need a wrench, duct tape, wonderglue, scrap electronics, and scrap metal.

Vendor Repair

If you prefer to let someone else do the dirty work, there are several vendors across the Mojave who offer repair services. However, keep in mind that this method can be quite expensive, and not all vendors have the same level of expertise.

The best option for vendor repair is Major Knight, a merchant located at the Mojave Outpost. With a maxed-out Repair skill, Major Knight can restore your gear to pristine condition. If you unlock the Confirmed Bachelor dialogue option, he’ll even offer a one-time discount, repairing your equipment up to 74%.

Other notable repair vendors include:

  • Dale Barton – Fortification Hill (30 Repair skill)
  • Samuel Kerr – 188 Trading Post (40 Repair skill)
  • Calamity – Jacobstown (60 Repair skill)
  • Old Lady Gibson – Gibson Scrap Yard (65 Repair skill)
  • Mick – Mick & Ralph’s (75 Repair skill)
  • Paladin Sato – Brotherhood of Steel Safehouse (100 Repair skill)
  • Raul Tejada – Raul’s Shack (100 Repair skill)

With these options at your disposal, you’ll never have to worry about facing the wasteland with subpar equipment. Whether you prefer to get your hands dirty or pay someone else to do the work, keeping your gear in top shape is essential for surviving the harsh realities of Fallout: New Vegas.
