Why Can’t I See All My iPhone Photos on My Computer?

If you’re trying to transfer photos from your iPhone to your computer and some of them are missing, there could be a few reasons why. Here are some common causes and solutions for the issue of iPhone photos not showing up on your PC:

Your iPhone is Locked

If your iPhone is locked, the DCIM folder containing your photos may be inaccessible. Simply unlock your iPhone, then plug it back into your computer. Once your phone is recognized, you should be able to see the DCIM folder and your photos.

There’s an Issue with the USB Cable

A faulty or loose USB cable can prevent your computer from properly connecting to your iPhone. Try using a different cable and make sure it’s securely plugged in. When prompted on your iPhone, tap “Trust” to allow the connection.

iCloud Photo Library is Enabled

If you have iCloud Photo Library turned on, your photos will be stored in iCloud rather than on your device. To fix this, go to Settings > iCloud on your iPhone and turn off iCloud Photo Library. This will bring all your photos back to your device so you can transfer them to your computer.

Your Photos are in HEIC Format

Since iOS 11, iPhones have been saving photos in the HEIC format by default. This format is more efficient than JPG, but not all computers can read it. If your PC doesn’t recognize HEIC files, you can convert them to JPG using an online tool like https://heictojpg.com/

Hopefully these tips help you resolve the issue of missing iPhone photos on your computer. If you’re still having trouble, you may need to use a third-party app like iCloud or AnyTrans to transfer the photos.
