Immediate Postoperative Period
After the surgery, patients are taken to the intensive care unit (ICU) for close monitoring. Pain is a common experience, and pain medication is administered as needed. Patients are also placed on a respirator and have a breathing tube for the first few hours after surgery.
Monitoring and Pain Management

Discharge and Follow-up
Once discharged, patients need to follow specific instructions to ensure proper healing. This includes wound care, managing bleeding, and avoiding strenuous activities. Follow-up appointments with the surgeon or cardiologist are essential to monitor the patient’s progress.
Return to Normal Activities
Patients are advised not to drive for at least three days after the procedure to allow the wound in the groin to heal properly. They can return to work once they feel comfortable, but it is essential to avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activities for several weeks.
Medication and Lifestyle Changes
Patients may need to make changes to their medication regimen after the surgery. Additionally, they should adopt a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet, regular exercise, and nicotine cessation if necessary, to improve their cardiovascular health.
