In Black Desert Online, the practice matchlock is a beginner’s weapon used for hunting quests. However, once its durability is depleted, you’ll need to return it to the NPC who rented it to you and obtain a new one. Here’s how to do it:
Returning the Practice Matchlock
Open the NPC search menu by clicking the magnifying glass icon next to your minimap
Type in the name of the NPC who rented you the practice matchlock
Interact with the NPC and select the option to return the matchlock
The NPC will take back the weapon, and you can now rent a new one from them
Once you’ve returned the matchlock, you can continue your hunting quest by equipping the new weapon. Remember, birds can only be damaged by the practice matchlock, so make sure you have one equipped before attempting to shoot them.
Completing Hunting Quests
For the seagull hunting quest in Velia, climb onto the roof of the building near the banker for an easy vantage point
Crouch to increase your range and wait for the crosshairs to turn red before shooting
For the bird hunting quest near Heidel, climb onto the roof of the nearby farmhouse and take aim at the birds
Return the matchlock to the NPC once you’ve completed the quest
Keep in mind that the practice matchlock cannot be repaired and must be rented again to restore its durability. It’s best to use it only when necessary or when required for a specific quest.
