Understanding Gear Condition
Gear Condition and Durability
Gear condition is a critical aspect of FFXIV gameplay. As you use your gear, its condition gradually deteriorates, affecting its performance. Gear can degrade to as low as 0% condition, rendering it ineffective. To maintain your gear’s performance, you need to repair it regularly.
Requirements for Repairing Gear
Dark Matter and Crafter Level
To repair gear, you need two essential items: dark matter and a high enough level in the relevant crafting class. Dark matter is a crucial material used for repairs, and you can obtain it through various means. For most gear, you’ll need Grade 8 dark matter. Additionally, you must have a high enough level in the crafting class associated with the gear you want to repair. For example, if you want to repair Weaver-crafted gear, you need to be at least level 90 in Weaver.
The Repair Process
Using the “/ac repair” Command
Once you have the necessary dark matter and crafting level, you can initiate the repair process. One way to do this is by using the “/ac repair” command in the game’s chat window. This will open the repair window, where you can select the gear you want to repair. You can also use the “Repair All” option to repair all eligible gear at once.
Alternative Methods
Using the Subcommand Menu
Another way to repair gear is by accessing the subcommand menu for the item you want to repair. Right-click on the item, and if you meet the requirements, you should see a “Repair” option. Selecting this will open the repair window, allowing you to repair the gear.
Common Issues and Solutions
Troubleshooting Repair Problems
Sometimes, you might encounter issues with the repair option not appearing. This can be due to various reasons, such as having the repair option disabled in your subcommand customization or trying to repair gear on a retainer. Ensure that you have the repair action enabled and that you’re trying to repair gear on your main character or equipped items.
