How to Repair the Mail Icon in Control Panel: A Step-by-Step Guide

Preparing for the Repair Process Before you begin, it’s important to ensure that you have the necessary information to proceed with the repair process. Make a note of the following:
Your current Office version (32-bit or 64-bit)
The version of Windows you’re using (32-bit or 64-bit)
You can find this information by following these steps:
Open any Office application, such as Word or Excel.
Go to File > Account.
Look for the “About” section, which will display your Office version and architecture (32-bit or 64-bit).
To determine your Windows version, press the Windows key R to open the Run dialog box.
Type winver and press Enter.
The Windows version and architecture will be displayed in the About Windows dialog box.

Now that you have the necessary information, let’s proceed with the repair process.

Removing the Current Office Version
Open the Control Panel.
Go to Programs > Uninstall a program.
Look for your current Office version in the list of installed programs.
Right-click on it and select “Uninstall.”
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process.

After removing the current Office version, you’ll need to download and install the correct version (32-bit or 64-bit) that matches your Windows architecture.

Installing the Correct Office Version

Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the selected Office version.

Wait for the installation to complete.

Verifying the Repair
Open the Control Panel.
Look for the Mail icon in the “Programs” section.
Right-click on the Mail icon and select “Open.”
If the Mail application opens without any issues, the repair process was successful.
