Preparing for Disassembly
Before you begin taking apart your ASUS laptop, it’s crucial to prepare properly. Follow these steps:
• Power down your laptop completely and unplug it from any power source
• Remove the battery if it’s removable
• Gather necessary tools: small Phillips screwdriver, plastic pry tool, and anti-static wrist strap
• Find a clean, well-lit workspace with plenty of room
Removing the Bottom Panel
The first step in disassembling most ASUS laptops is removing the bottom panel:
• Flip the laptop upside down on a soft surface
• Locate and remove all visible screws on the bottom panel (usually 10-15 screws)
• Use a plastic pry tool to gently separate the bottom panel from the laptop body
• Work your way around the edges, being careful not to force anything
Disconnecting Internal Components
Once the bottom panel is removed, you’ll have access to the laptop’s internals:
• Locate the battery connector on the motherboard and gently unplug it
• Remove any additional screws holding down the hard drive, SSD, or RAM modules
• Carefully disconnect ribbon cables for the keyboard, touchpad, and other components
• If accessing the screen assembly, remove screws at the hinges and disconnect the display cable
Reassembly Tips
When putting your ASUS laptop back together:
• Take photos during disassembly to reference component locations
• Keep screws organized and labeled
• Reconnect all cables and components in reverse order
• Ensure the bottom panel clicks into place before replacing screws
