If you’ve encountered the “This publisher has been blocked from running software on your machine” error when trying to install or run an application on your Windows 10 or 11 computer, you’re not alone. This frustrating issue can prevent you from accessing important software, but there are several steps you can take to resolve it.
Step One: Unblock the Publisher
Right click the file that you are to install, then choose Properties from the list.

At the bottom of the Properties window, make sure the box for Unblock is ticked. Then click Apply and OK to save the change and see if the installation is available now.

Step Two: Manage Computer Certificates
Open the Start menu, search for “manage computer certificates”, and open the resulting application.

In the Certificates snap-in, locate the Untrusted Certificates folder and expand it.

Look for any certificates related to the publisher that has been blocked, right-click on them, and select Delete.

Close the Certificates snap-in and restart your computer to see if the issue is resolved.

Step Three: Modify Group Policy Settings
Open the Local Group Policy Editor by searching for “local group policy editor” in the Start menu.

Navigate to Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Attachment Manager.

Double-click on “Inclusion list for low file types” and set it to Enabled.

In the “Specify low-risk file extensions” field, add “.exe” and click Apply and OK.

Close the Local Group Policy Editor and restart your computer.

Step Four: Unsign the Blocked File
Download the “File Signer” tool from a trusted source.

Drag and drop the executable file that is being blocked onto the File Signer tool.

The tool will unsign the file, allowing you to run it without the “This publisher has been blocked” error.
