Using Vodka and a Toothbrush
Rub a small amount of vodka on the microfiber couch. If scratch marks appear on a dry or rough area of the couch, scrub them with an old toothbrush. The vodka evaporates and does not leave behind water stains and may help remove scratches.

Using a Vacuum and a Soft Cloth
Press the upholstery attachment from your vacuum cleaner on the couch’s scratched area. Move the vacuum along the scratched surface and rub the attachment around in small circles. The movement readjusts the fibers, which may hide the scratches. Then, dunk a soft cloth, such as a microfiber cloth, in water. Squeeze the excess water from the cloth and rub the cloth against the scratches. Work the wet cloth over the couch in a circular motion. Let the liquid dry for several hours. The process may hide or remove minor scratches.
Leather Couches
Repairing Scratches with Leather Binder and Filler
For leather couches, start by cleaning the affected area to remove any excess dust, animal hairs, or dirt. Use a sharp pair of scissors or a razor to gently remove any excess fibers. Apply a minimal amount of Leather Binder to the area, slowly and evenly rubbing it onto the affected area. Allow it to cool and repeat the process approximately five times. This will strengthen the weakened area and repair any cracks and scratches. Then, use fine sandpaper to lightly sand down the area to achieve an even, smooth surface. Once completed, dust off any remaining residue. Apply a thin layer of heavy leather filler with a spatula or palette knife, ensuring the entire area is smooth and even. Apply another layer if necessary and let it dry for approximately 15-20 minutes. Once dry, lightly sand the area again until smooth, then wipe away any residue with a damp cloth or alcohol cleaner. Finally, apply a small amount of genuine leather colourant to the area, slowly applying it with an old sponge in a smooth circular motion.
Fabric Couches
Using a DIY Fabric Repair Kit
For fabric couches, you can use a DIY fabric repair kit to cover up any scratch or scuffs. The kit includes fabric glue and repair fibers that can be mixed to match your furniture’s color. Apply a very thin layer of glue to the damaged area and fill it as evenly as possible. Then, sift the repair fibers onto the adhesive, gently packing them down with a spatula. Allow the glue to dry for 24 hours and then blow off excess fibers. If the repaired area gets hard wear, you can protect it by spraying a clear hairspray over the area.
