In Old School RuneScape, the Iban’s staff is a powerful magic weapon obtained after completing the Underground Pass quest. However, if you lose your original staff, you can receive a broken version from Iban’s disciples in the Underground Pass. To restore the staff to its full functionality, you’ll need to repair it at the Dark Mage’s shop in West Ardougne. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to fix your broken Iban’s staff:

Obtaining the Broken Iban’s Staff

If you’ve lost your original Iban’s staff, you can obtain a broken version from Iban’s disciples in the Underground Pass. These enemies are found throughout the dungeon, and they have a chance to drop the broken staff upon defeat.

Repairing the Broken Staff

Once you have the broken Iban’s staff, you need to take it to the Dark Mage’s shop in West Ardougne. The Dark Mage’s shop is located near the entrance to the Underground Pass, in a small building in the western part of the city.

To repair the staff, you’ll need to pay the Dark Mage 200,000 coins. Hand over the broken staff and the required payment, and the Dark Mage will restore it to its original condition, fully charged and ready to use.

Upgrading the Repaired Staff

After repairing your Iban’s staff, you have the option to upgrade it at the Dark Mage’s shop. For an additional 200,000 coins, the Dark Mage will upgrade your staff to an Iban’s staff (u), which increases the number of charges it can hold from 120 to 2,500.

This upgraded version of the staff is highly recommended, as it allows you to use Iban Blast for a much longer period before needing to recharge it.

Recharging the Staff

Both the standard Iban’s staff and its upgraded variant can be recharged for free by using it on the well in the Underground Pass where the paladin’s badges are dropped. This well is located near the exit of the dungeon, north of Lletya.

To reach the well, you can teleport to Lletya using a teleport crystal, travel through the fairy ring at BJS with 76 Agility, or charter a ship to Port Tyras from Brimhaven after completing the Regicide quest. Alternatively, you can use the Abyss to enter the Death Altar and exit at the bottom of the Underground Pass.

If you prefer not to return to the Underground Pass, you can pay the Dark Mage in West Ardougne to recharge your staff. For 100,000 coins, he will recharge the standard staff, while the upgraded staff costs 250,000 coins to recharge.

Using the Repaired Iban’s Staff

Once you have repaired and, optionally, upgraded your Iban’s staff, you can wield it to cast powerful magic spells. The staff requires 50 Magic and 50 Attack to use. Casting Iban Blast on a monster consumes one charge, while casting it on another player consumes two charges. Other spells, such as Fire Blast, can be cast without consuming any charges.

The Iban’s staff is particularly useful for low-level player killing and Barracks, as it has a maximum hit of 25. It’s also considered equivalent to a mystic staff as a melee weapon.

Losing the Staff in Player-vs-Player Combat

If you lose your Iban’s staff while engaging in player-vs-player combat in the Wilderness level 20 or below, it will be dropped to the ground and can be picked up by you or another player. However, if you lose it above level 20 Wilderness, it will be permanently lost.
