How to Repair Corrupted Windows 7 System Files

To begin, restart your computer and press the F8 key repeatedly before the Windows logo appears. This will open the Advanced Boot Options menu.

Run System File Checker (SFC)

At the Advanced Boot Options menu, select “Safe Mode with Command Prompt” and press Enter. Once in Safe Mode, open an elevated Command Prompt by searching for “Command Prompt” in the Start menu, right-clicking on it, and selecting “Run as administrator”.

In the Command Prompt, type the following command and press Enter:

sfc /scannow

This will initiate the System File Checker tool, which will scan for and attempt to repair corrupted system files.
