Restoring a Mac recovery disk is a crucial step in maintaining the health and performance of your computer. If you’ve accidentally erased your recovery disk or need to create a new one, Disk Utility can help you get back on track. Here’s how to restore a Mac recovery disk using Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility
First, open Disk Utility on your Mac. You can find it in the Utilities folder within the Applications folder.
Show All Devices
In Disk Utility, go to the View menu and select “Show All Devices.” This will display all the connected storage devices, including your recovery disk.
Select the Recovery Disk
In the sidebar, locate and select the recovery disk volume that you want to restore.
Click the Restore Button
Once you’ve selected the recovery disk, click the “Restore” button in the Disk Utility toolbar.
Choose the Restore Source
In the Restore window, click the “Restore from” pop-up menu and select the volume or disk image that you want to use as the source for the restoration process.
Click Restore
Finally, click the “Restore” button to begin the restoration process. Disk Utility will copy the contents of the selected source to the recovery disk, creating a new recovery disk for your Mac.
Once the restoration is complete, you’ll have a fully functional recovery disk that you can use to troubleshoot issues, reinstall macOS, or perform other maintenance tasks on your Mac.
